At last the long expected day of my life had arrived! For the past two and a half years I was saving my wage to get a four wheel car for myself, one that could haul six of us, that includes me and my five friends, for our weekend trips.
I shortlisted a number of vehicles from the extensive list of 6 seater cars. My parents advised me to look for 6 seater cars, but majority of the so called 6 seater vehicles out there could hardly fit the massive bulk of my 3 friends in the rear seat. Therefore I ended up with two off-roaders that can readily fit six people, as well as our weekend accessories like tents, mountain bike etc.
The number one on the list was Mahindra Thar, a classic jeep, with soft top that could be removed at will. The next one was an SUV named Sumo from the stables of Tata. I understand both of them belong to different groups, but their sale price compelled me to shortlist them. The former was available at a price tag of $12000 and the latter at $13000, a huge gap of $1000.
Thar appeared more aggressive and was an extremely capable off-roader. On the other hand Sumo looked similar to a family man’s vehicle and was not that nice as Thar in off-roading. My mind was moved towards Thar, because I always had this passion for classic vehicles in me. I was confused between the two, my family was more keen towards the Sumo and my passion for jeep was burning inside me.
Then all of a sudden my Grandpa’s face came into my mind, he was a brilliant traveller and did travel from Leh to Kanyakumari, the entire length of India from North to South in his Royal Enfield. He always used to say “pursue what your heart wants, and you will never regret”, and that shed light into my perplexed darkness.
I decided to buy the Mahindra Thar, and ended up customising it for another thousand dollars and now she looks more stunning than a Mercedes! The following week we headed straight to Mysore via Munnar and Ooty, and conquered all the highest points in South India. Now the 6 of us are planning for an Himalayan trip, following the trails left behind by my favorite Grandpa.
6 seater cars are great for almost any family. Visit 7seatercarsreviews.com for more information.
